Key Lime Pie

I had wanted to share this recipe I love so much with you for quite some time now, and just yesterday, my family asked me to make a Key Lime Pie, which reminded me I still had not done so. This typical American pie is super easy to make, creamy, a little tangy and tastes so good! You can garnish it with whipped cream or meringue.

Key Lime Pie

Ingredients
  

For the crust:

  • 180 g Graham Cracker
  • 100 g melted unsalted butter

For the filling:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 155 ml lime juice
  • Whipped cream or meringue

Instructions
 

  • For the crust: Preheat oven at 350°F. Process the cookies. Add the melted butter and process until it resembles wet sand. Press into a round baking dish using your fingers. Bake for 5-7 minutes.
  • For the filling: In a bowl, mix condensed milk, egg yolks and lime juice. Pour into the prepared crust and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until the center is firm. Let it cool at room temperature and chill for at least 6 hours. Serve with whipped cream or meringue.

Notes

Tip:
  • You can also make the cookie crumbs by putting them into a plastic bag and crushing them with a rolling pin.
