Homemade Hummus

Ingredientes
  

  • 3 cups garbanzo beans, drained and peeled (dried or canned)
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 80 grs tahini paste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • A few tsps. Hot water (if needed)
  • Olive oil
  • Sumac or paprika (optional)

Instrucciones
 

  • In a blender or food processor, blend the peeled garbanzo beans and garlic.
  • Add the ice cubes, tahini paste, salt, lemon juice and blend. If it is too thick, add hot water, a tsp at a time. Blend until smooth. 
  • Pour into a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Optional: sprinkle with sumac or paprika.

Notas

Tips:
  • If you use dried garbanzo beans, soak them in water overnight and then boil them for 1 ½ hours.
  • If you used canned ones, drain them.
  • To peel them, place them in a bowl, add boiling water and 1 ½ tsp baking soda. Let them sit for a few minutes, then rinse under cold running water, rubbing them between your hands to loosen up the skin. Once peeled, place them in a bowl.
