In a small village in Corrientes city, I found a Guava tree as I was taking a stroll. The owner kindly let me pick a few guavas, and as I was doing so, the aroma was so intense that I could just imagine stirring the pot of jam I was going to make as soon as I got home.
My mom makes the best guava jam ever, so this time, she was right by my side, guiding me as I made this one. Here I am sharing the detailed recipe so that all guava lovers like me can get the chance to make it.
We usually tend to think that making this jam is complicated and time consuming, but in fact, it is quite simple. Once the peeling and pitting are out of the way, the rest is done in no time!
This is by far my favorite jam of all! Having some guava jam with cheese, whipped cream, ice cream, or just plain, is the best thing in the world!

Guava Jam
Ingredients
- 1 kg guavas
- 1/2 kg white sugar
- 3 cups water
- cinnamon stick (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and peel the guavas. Cut in half, remove the seeds with a spoon so that each half is hollow.
- Place the sugar and water in a large pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, add the guavas and cinnamon. Continue to cook until it thickens. Let it cool and ladle into jars.
Notes
- In case guavas are not pink as they usually are, just make a little caramel, add it to the rest of the preparation, and let it cook for a little longer to let the color darken.
